Position Summary:

The Accountant position will maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. Provide general accounting support and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger account balances and trial balances. Review current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Conduct key activities such as month-end and quarter-end close, lease accounting, deferred revenue, fixed assets, account reconciliations, and audits.

Location: Omaha, NE | Onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Close Activities: Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliation and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, and budget variance analyses. Prepare journal entries, including for prepaid expenses, accruals, and allocations.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation: Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules; prepare depreciation entries. Assist with inventory reconciliations. Prepare deferred revenue, allowance for bad debt and contract asset entries and reconciliations. Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Leasing & Regulatory Accounting: Perform lease accounting for the company’s leasing portfolio under ASC 842. Prepare state and local filings. Review property tax returns. Assist in preparation of financial reports for internal, governmental, or statutory requirements.
  • Audit & Internal Controls: Provide audit support related to general accounting. Assess internal controls, perform risk assessments, and review risk areas to protect company assets and support financial integrity.
  • Process Improvement & Project Work: Review existing processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities focused on simplification, standardization, and optimization. Carry out additional project-based responsibilities as assigned. Research and prepare state and local filings and property tax returns.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities as needed or assigned by leadership to support departmental and organizational objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Strong experience using accounting software required
  • Minimum of one year of general ledger, multi-unit experience required
  • Knowledge of common accounting practices and procedures, including solid understanding of GAAP required
  • Strong detail orientation, time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy required
  • High level of technical aptitude including high proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, report writing software and ability to learn new technology quickly required
  • Established analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to function well in a team-based environment required
  • Ability to successfully execute change with leadership focusing on expedited completion of critical project tasks required
  • Self-starter, proficient and able to think outside of the box to bring new ideas forward and help with process efficiencies and effectiveness required
  • Ability to remain positive and flexible to change while working in a fast paced, changing, and challenging work environment required
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and an exceptional experience for internal and external customers while balancing workload required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Previous experience using Paycom preferred
  • Prior experience working in a large scale and quickly growing organization preferred
